Honors Experience Waivers

Honors Experience waivers allow honors students to receive a reduction of up to 4 of the 21 required honors credits by completing honors-worthy experiences that sit outside of the classroom setting.

Experience Waiver Formats

Learning Abroad Experience Waiver Will you be learning abroad for a week, a semester or even a year? Want to earn honors credits for completing an honors worthy project while you are learning abroad? Receive a reduction of up to 3 honors credits by completing a learning abroad experience waiver.

Disciplinary Internship Experience Waiver

Are you completing an internship that relates to your disciplinary major/minor, or academic goals, and would like to receive a reduction in honors credits? Consider completing a disciplinary internship experience waiver, available for 1-3 honors credits.

Leadership Experience Waiver

Are you interested in planning honors events, collaborating with other depts., clubs, or organizations to create events, or participating in a leadership role where you would like to receive a reduction of honors credits? Consider completing a leadership experience waiver for 1-3 honors credits.

Research Experience Waiver Are you completing research outside of coursework and want to receive a reduction of honors credits? Discuss your research ideas with the honors director to see if it qualifies to fit under the research category of an experience waiver.

Mentorship Experience Waiver Mentor incoming honors students during their first year at �� and help support them as they navigate honors courses, contracts, and other aspects of the honors program. Mentors receive 1 credit reduction for one year of mentorship.

Career Exploration Experience Waiver Are you planning to have a career exploration experience (like job shadowing professionals in your industry, volunteering for an organization in your future industry, working in a non-disciplinary internship, etc.) that allows you to develop your educational or future career skills, and want to receive a reduction in honors credits? Consider completing a career exploration experience waiver, available for 1-3 honors credits.

Once students have discussed their ideas with the Honors Director, they must fill out the experience waiver proposal and include information relative to the intended experience. This is a low cost avenue for completing honors worthy experiences and receiving a reduction in credits at the same time.
